This is why I care for the homeless and wish to aid in their well-being because the homeless have "cracks" that no one noticed or cared about until their "cracks" sank them to the bottom of the proverbial ocean...the sea of people on Earth that we call life, the perpetual "rat race" to exist and survive and thrive...and some folks just can't do it because it's downright difficult and complicated on any given day to be alive in this ever-progressing, ever-cost-increasing world we live in.
It's not that homeless folks make that free will choice to be homeless, maybe some do, but not all do, and even if some do, it could be for the very reasons I stated above...not because they were drug addicts or lazy or mentally deranged...maybe they just couldn't heal from their "crack" and no one cared and no one comforted them and no one helped them heal and so they fell from the "supposed grace" that society assigns us...they fell below the standard of living that has been set forth, maybe because their cracks made them weak and meek and needing of something society failed to provide.
The homeless didn't fail society. We failed them.
We failed the people with "cracks"...the people who never healed from their wounds.
We failed the people who got broken somehow throughout their soul journey...and...just...let them sink.
We didn't care as a civilization to watch our fellow man, woman, and child sink...We let them, and then we cast them out, and we condemn them for being without a designated location and a house made of brick and stone to call "home." We call them "homeless" but what is a home really?
A home is in the heart and mind and soul, as well as in physical, manmade structures, so the street could very well be home to a lot of human beings. When we leave our boxes, we are invading THEIR HOME. They made the street their home because that's where the lost and broken go.
That's where the people with cracks go because society told them no.
Society turned them away at every corner.
No, you don't get that job. No, you don't get that loan. No, you can't go to that school. No, you don't get that credit. No, you can't rent that place. No, you don't have enough income. No, you don't have a high enough credit score. No, you don't have enough cash. No, you're not dressed nice enough. No, you don't drive a nice enough car. No, you don't have a pre-existing bank account. No, you don't have anything already in your name.
Society tells people "NO" for so long that sometimes people develop "cracks" and just give up. Freedom is in the streets, you see, freedom to be who they want to be and live how they want to live...freely, even with their "cracks"...and freedom, freedom is where home really exists.
